Comiccon Video Game Review Show – Rise Of The Triad Dark War Retrospective + Review
Released in 1995 by Apogee Software, Rise Of The Triad Dark War is a retooled version of what ID Software had initially requested: a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D. This game is completely unique because it was unplanned, ID Software changed their mind about having Apogee Software create the Wolfenstein sequel as they wanted nothing to compete with their next game: Doom. Scott Miller had wanted Apogee to break into 3d games and rather than scrapping all the work they had already done he created something truly unique. Apogee would release in the following year perhaps their most famous title Duke Nukem 3D. In many ways Rise Of The Triad is one of the most important games in first person shooter history because it was never meant to exist.
